The project partnership has been carefully defined to cover all fields of expertise necessary to handle the large scope of the CESAR integrated project. The selection of the consortium has been a matter regarded essential to ensure the success of the project. Of prime importance was to guarantee that the necessary expertise was taken on board, while avoiding any unnecessary duplication of effort, and that a satisfactory level of background knowledge and adhesion to the project objectives was widely shared among the CESAR consortium.
39 participants from 14 European countries have joined their effort to achieve ambitious objectives of the CESAR project. 7 aircraft designers and manufacturers (Piaggio Aero, Socata, Aero Vodochody, Evektor, PZL, Eurocopter, INCAS) together with 13 aircraft systems providers (Liebherr LTS, AERNNOVA, HAI, Jihostroj, Technofan, Jihlavan, Mesit, Hexagon, Merl, SRM, Speel, Unis) and 3 engine manufacturers (Turbomeca, Ivchenko, PBS) form a very strong industrial background of the project. Such industrial formation ensures that the project scope and objectives are directly aimed at companies´ technological needs to increase their competitiveness.
This industrial core is widely supported by 11 national and corporate research establishments (EADS-CRC, DLR, NLR, ONERA, VZLU, FOI, CIRA, ARCS, IoA, Sicomp, CENAERO) having available necessary expertise and infrastructure to successfully carry out RTD work of the project. Most of the research establishments have long-term and close relations to the industrial partners, which enables smooth technology transfer and exploitation of results.
The critical mass of the project is intensified by participation of 6 universities (University of Manchester, Univ. of Achen, VUT Brno, Univ. of Liege, Technical Univ. of Munich, Univ. of Patras). 7 participants out of 39 are SMEs, i.e. 18%. CESAR provides for SME a major opportunity to establish their credibility and thereby expand their client base.
